Dr. Kapil is the chief of clinical bacteriology laboratory, co- chair Hospital Infection control committee and chairperson committee for “ Formulation of uniform antibiotic policy at AIIMS Hospital”. The laboratory performs antimicrobial susceptibility and performs various phenotypic and molecular techniques for the characterization of antimicrobial resistance amongst bacterial pathogens. The laboratory is a Nodal center for surveillance of Antimicrobial resistance in Salmonella under the ICMR funded project on AMR surveillance network.

Dr. Arunaloke Chakrabarti is a clinical mycologist and researcher in the area of fungal infections including antifungal agents and its resistance. He has experience also in managing invasive fungal disease especially those which are generally refractory to the treatment. His laboratory performs standardized susceptibility tests against both yeast and moulds. He is also curator of National Culture Collection of Pathogenic Fungi. They Identified novel mutations responsible for the resistance in fungi in India. He is also member of multiple international guideline committees on management of invasive fungal infections. Recently he has been entrusted with the responsibility of joint coordinator with Dr. Tom Chiller of CDC, Atlanta for Global Surveillance Antimicrobial Resistance in Invasive Candida infection under World Health Organization.

Dr Pallab Ray, Professor, department of Medical Microbiology, PGIMER, Chandigarh and In-Charge, Bacteriology, is a pioneer in rational and appropriate use of antibiotics. He initiated round the clock clinical bacteriology consultancy for diagnosis and management of serious infections for the clinical departments in early 1990s. He has delivered many lectures on rational antibiotic therapy for doctors in hospitals and private practice. He is the Principal Investigator of ICMR “Nodal Coordinating Centre for Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in members of family Enterobacteriaceae”.

Dr. Sujatha Sistla is the Professor and Head of Microbiology in JIPMER, Puducherry and is the member secretary of hospital infection control committee, JIPMER hospital. She is the principal investigator of the ICMR “Nodal Coordinating Centre for Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in staphylococci and enterococci”. She has extensive research experience in antimicrobial resistance and molecular epidemiology of clinically important Gram positive cocci such as MRSA, VRE, Streptococcus pyogenes and Streptococcus pneumoniae.

She also chairs the Infection Control Committee and is keenly interested in drug resistance and antimicrobial stewardship. She has 285 publications, has conducted 90 research projects and is a recipient of 18 awards. She is a Fellow of ESCMID - European Society Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Disease

The department is one of the Surveillance centres for AMR in the country where monitoring of AMR has been going on since 1995 and the data has been in the public domain in the form of Microbiology Newsletter containing the yearly antibiogramme since then.

Dr. Prashant Gupta is a clinical bacteriologist and mycologist. He plays important role in hospital infection control at his institution as infection control officer. His fields of interest are fungal infections in cancer patients and antimicrobial resistance in bacteria and fungi. He is also principal investigator in WHO funded project for “Detection of Diphtheria and Pertussis”.

Dr. Raja Ray has at least thirty international and national publications of research work in peer reviewed journal and has presented scientific papers at state, national and international conferences (European Congress of Chemotherapy, (Paris May, 2002). He has guided at least twenty MD theses and three PhD theses. Since last 7 years, he is serving as Professor at West Bengal Medical Education Service. He is Nodal Microbiologist, IDSP & NVBDCP, Principal Investigator, VRDL, AMRSP and AIIMS-CDC projects, all under ICMR. He is also in charge CB-NAAT testing at IPGMER. He also serves regularly as an MCI Assessor.

Dr. Bhattacharya’s research interests are molecular microbiology, Hospital Infection Control, Antimicrobial Stewardship, capacity building and fungal infection study. He has more than 70 publications in peer reviewed journals and 5 book chapters. He has received research grants from ICMR, DBT, CDC-AIIMS-ICMR. He has teaching experience in Clinical Microbiology Fellowship program at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, India.

Col. Sourav Sen is an alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. He was awarded Fogarty fellowship 2004, and was trained at the HIV Genotyping Laboratory, Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, Baltimore, U.S.A. He completed PhD at Department of Molecular Virology, National AIDS Research Institute (ICMR), Pune in 2008, wherein his field of research was antiretroviral drug resistance genotyping. He was the Professor in Dept of Microbiology at Army Hospital (Research & Referral), Delhi from June 2013 till June 2016. At present, he is the Professor and Head, Dept of Microbiology at Armed Forces Medical College, Pune since June 2016.

Dr. Sujata Baveja has coordinated the airborne infection control (AIC) training programme for all medical officers of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, India. She is core member of WHO END TB transmission group as well as member of WHO for revising the Airborne Infection Control Guidelines 2018. She is an executive member of Hospital infection society of India and promotes awareness on AIC at national level. Dr. Baveja has participated in Building Design and Engineering approach to Air Borne Infection control programme at Harvard school of Public Health.
